On the subject of iPhone 13 storage, it has been speculated that Apple will double the maximum storage capacity in some models from last year’s 512GB to 1TB. A more recent leak from Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives said that at least the iPhone 13 Pro and Max models will have a 1TB (1,000 gigabytes) storage option.

Similarly, another subsequent leak from supply chain sources claimed with “greater confidence” that the 1TB iPhone 13 variants will be released this fall.

In late March, a leak allegedly showing glass panels from the iPhone 13 revealed that the notch on the iPhone 13 will potentially be noticeably smaller, at least in width. To back this up, an April leak said to show the mini CAD versions of the iPhone 13 also featured the phones with a smaller notch and different positions of their rear cameras.

In mid-February, leakers said that the iPhone 2021 will have a slightly more textured and grippy soft matte backplate, which should be more comfortable to hold. Inside iPhone 13, stronger magnets will be used for MagSafe accessories.

More Information Ahead

An earlier, previously mentioned report from Jan 9 said that all 2021 iPhone variants will get 0.26mm thicker, likely due to getting larger batteries than the previous generation of iPhones.

On January 15, a Bloomberg report suggested that the iPhone 13 will finally have an in-display Touch ID fingerprint sensor. We’ve had in-screen sensors on Android phones for a while and considering the fact that many wear skins and therefore find Face ID awkward at the moment, the return of Touch ID, but modernized for 2021, seems plausible. However, there is a possibility that such a feature will be delayed for the iPhone 14 series, which was confirmed by several subsequent rumors.

Several insiders have also suggested that the iPhone (2021) could be the first iPhone without a port, relying exclusively on wireless charging via MagSafe. In late February, it was revealed that Apple is indeed testing how a portless iPhone could recover data, suggesting that such an iPhone will arrive eventually, but likely later.

On April 13, leaked versions of the iPhone 13 5G showed a smaller notch again. Inside the notch, the sensors appeared to be slightly rearranged, plus there was a fourth cutout that could possibly be for an additional speaker or a second front camera.

On June 23, 2021, leaker SonnyDickson posted on Twitter the following photo of alleged fictitious iPhone 13 models, showing their backs.

Those dummy iPhone 2021 models match previous leaks, suggesting that the phones will have larger camera modules than last year. The base iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are also shown to sport a revamped diagonal arrangement of their cameras.

More alleged dummy iPhone 2021 units (shown below) appeared on July 9, courtesy of leaker Ice Universe. Once again, the leaked dummy units support the larger camera module redesign that we expect for the new iPhone series.

A late-July leak focusing on the iPhone 13’s notch suggests that the iPhone 13’s notch will be 25% smaller than last year’s models. A smaller notch has been suggested in many previous leaks, but this one also explains how Apple managed to achieve the smallest notch. Apple allegedly moved the iPhone 13’s earpiece above the Face ID system to reduce the width of the notch.

As for the expected color options of the iPhone 13, in recent months various rumors have suggested a rainbow of colors of the iPhone 2021. So far, we expect the iPhone 13 to come in matte black, rose pink, purple, orange, red. product, white, yellow, mint green, graphite, gold, and silver. However, it’s worth noting that not all iPhone 13 models will get all of these colors. For example, the rumored Matte Black is likely only coming to the iPhone 13 Pro and possibly the iPhone 13 Pro Max, not the base 2021 iPhone.
